The 3rd International Staff Week event with the theme of “Re-connection in New Era” was held by the General Coordinatorship of International Relations of Uşak University between 6-10 June 2022 with the participation of 34 universities from 16 different countries.
Speaking at the opening ceremony held at Uşak University Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Congress and Culture Center, Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Savaş expressed his satisfaction for the third event, which contributes to the realization of student and staff mobility within the scope of the internationalization strategy. Rector Savaş said, “We are hosting the academicians, especially the rectors of our international partner universities. I am very pleased to see our guests at our university and in Uşak. This event is an important organization in order to increase the recognition of our university in the international arena and to improve the exchange of both academicians and students from international universities. In our event, informative presentations are made about our guest academicians and universities, and we provide education in our departments related to their fields, transfer various information to our students, create new project partnerships, carry out meetings and protocols to increase the number of bilateral cooperation, and consult on Erasmus and Mevlana exchange programs. We also introduce our city and Turkish culture to our guests. I would like to thank everyone who participated and contributed to the International Staff Week.”
International Relations General Coordinator Asst. Prof. Özgür Tarhan made a presentation introducing coordinatorship studies and international exchange programs.
After the presentation, Secretary General of the Turkish Fulbright Commission and Bilkent University Department of International Relations Lecturer Prof. Dr. Ersel Aydınlı gave a speech titled “On-going Challenges for Internationalization of Higher Education in the Re-Connection Era: Balancing Quality and Quantity”. Stating that it is important for the internationalization of universities in our country that Uşak University is organizing such an event for the third time, Prof. Dr. Aydınlı especially thanked Rector Prof.Dr. Ekrem Savaş and everyone who contributed and participated.
After the opening speeches, the representatives of the participating universities gave information about their universities at the event called '5- Minute Challenge: Introduce yourself!' and expressed their satisfaction with being in Uşak and Uşak University.
The opening program ended with the “Turkish Traditional Handicrafts Printing” workshop held at Uşak University Leather, Textile and Ceramics (DTS) Design Application and Research Center, after activities promoting Turkish Culture and folklore performances.
In the 3rd International Staff Week event with the theme of “Re-connection in New Era”, which started on June 6 and will end on Friday, June 10, presentations for Uşak University students who want to experience abroad education programs within the scope of Erasmus and Mevlana programs, international business associations, workshops, cultural promotion, campus tours, social events and city tours were held.
